This year I have got one of the best games I have ever played. Horizon Zero Dawn by Guerrilla Games has moved me to a different, virtual world and allowed to be a part of adventure with Aloy – ginger hair girl who is a main hero in this production…
“The story is set in the 31st century, in a world where humans have regressed to primitive tribal societies as a result of some unknown calamity. Their technologically advanced predecessors are vaguely remembered as the “Old Ones.” Large robotic creatures known merely as “machines” now dominate the Earth. For the most part, they peacefully coexist with humans, who occasionally hunt them for parts. However, a phenomenon known as the “Derangement” has caused machines to become more aggressive towards humans, and larger and deadlier machines have begun to appear. There are three tribes that are prominently featured: the Nora, the Carja, and the Oseram. The Nora are fierce hunter-gatherers who live in the mountains and worship nature as the “All-Mother.” The Carja are desert-dwelling city builders who worship the Sun. The Oseram are tinkerers known for their metalworking, brewing, and arguing” ~ Wiki
I spent an approximately 100h to finish game + 20h in new game plus (just main missions) + 35h in the newest DLC – The Frozen Wilds. I can truly say that main story is amazing, addictive and Aloy is just lovely. It is sad that we – gamers can not meet her in “real life”.
I did not believe that Guerrilla will be able to achieve graphic effects and details which I saw in teasers. Yup, It is just a console, cheap hardware which can not be comparable with the newest, powerful PCs. But they did it! Whole world and all 3D models are hi-fi. Graphic is really stunning! I have no idea how it was possible on console where for example Ghost Wildlands has graphic like low-graphic-mode on PC and sniper weapons are hard a little bit to use because of environment glitch/feature which is generating radius max 100-200m of details around us.
Guerrilla says that The Frozen Wilds was the last DLC but … Hopefully not. Horizon Zero Dawn is my favourite game and really I would like to go back and spend some more time with Aloy fighting for better future, mysteries and truth.
